Let me know if you find this interesting. https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=9E7DB242359A93F0&id=9E7DB242359A93F0!30215 The new one is VPPlanetGenerator-1-1-14715-2.zip. When you unzip it on a Windows system, click on setup.exe to install. The Mogensen Planet Generator now has a primitive color map creator (colour map creator). It's primitive. It saves new color maps at "/My Documents/VP/PlanetGenerator". It doesn't currently re-edit your color maps so if you want to re-do it, you need to create a new map. Have fun :) |

Thanks for the update (I couldn't get the file posted at http://hjemmesider.diku.dk/~torbenm/Planet/) to work. Ultimately though, I need to have the maps as an image file. Is there a way to do this? Also, what do you use to open the .col files? |

Thanks for checking it out. > I need to have the maps as an image file. After you click the [Render!] button of any of the planet/cloud/star generators, you get to view the image. If you look at the Launch Pad, there is a [Save] button. It disappears if you close the image. > Also, what do you use to open the .col files? I'm getting there... It's on my list of things to do. |

Are you making a generator for scenes of planets in space with stars around them? |

> Are you making a generator for scenes of planets in space with stars around them? I might not be able to do that. Or I might just use the PPMForge planet/stars renderer for a cheap one. Currently (for myself) I render a land surface, bump surface (using gray option), clouds, and stars, and then I put them together using POV-Ray. The POV-Ray engine is capable of competing with Hollywood-style planet scenes. And this program I created to work with other existing programs (including planet.exe) can now help me generate many planets rapidly. |

> But for right now, there isn't a way to use the "create color map" feature? Are you having trouble with the Create color Map? Do you get an error message? When you go through the [Create color map] it saves a new .col file and adds it to the list of color maps to choose from. Do you get something different? |

>> Also, what do you use to open the .col files? >I'm getting there... It's on my list of things to do. The feature to edit colour map is near completion. In a few days it will be ready. It's going to be limited in the range from 0 to 255. Getting this app to edit the colors was not a simple task, starting with how should it look like. But I think I have overcome the challenges, so that finishing it can happen soon. |

I am having trouble designing a map where I have input. Regardless if I choose strong preference for land or ocean, I get the same result. For example. Top four left boxes in corner are inputted as strong preference for land, but always end up being ocean. How do I get the generator to follow my input? Thank you! |
