I'm trying to run the downloaded version, but every time I run the tcc for planet.c it gives me "Cannot open Old son.col". What on earth am I doing wrong?

"Cannot open Olsson.col". Sorry, auto correct.

The file Olsson.col must be in the folder from which you run the planet program.  If you downloaded the Windows executable, you also need to download the zip file and unpack this in the same folder.  The zip file contains Olsson.col (the default colour map) and several other colour maps, as well as the source code and the manual.

I have also received this message when trying to run from Mac OS terminal, even when Olsson.col file is in the folder...

Have you checked the file permissions?

If they are all right, and the folder from where you start the command from the command line contains Olsson.col, then I don't know what the problem is.

I have the same issue whenever I try to run planet from the windows 10 command line. Olsson.col is in the same folder as planet, and I changed the folder's permissions such that all users have full control.

Complete noob here, but I suspect I might be doing something wrong with the permissions. Did anyone have any success in fixing it? Thanks!

To clarify: Olsson.col (and other colour files) should be in the folder from which you start the planet program from the command line.  It is not enough that the colour file is in the same folder as the program, this folder should be your current folder when starting the program (so running dir or ls should show the colour file).  So don't run folder\planet.exe (or folder/planet for Linux and MacOS), run planet.exe (or ./planet for Linux and MacOS).

Works great! Thanks a lot, would've been really hard to figure it out on my own.

Sorry for the repeated message, didn't notice the warning at first.
